Fall CSA Week One

Posted on

One of the reasons I began blogging was to chronicle my adventure as a new CSA devotee. As someone who cares where food comes from, I looked for an organic CSA, with lots of participants. Sandy Spring CSA, using Lancaster Farm Fresh Cooperative, was a perfect choice. 10-14 items every week in the summer.

The fall season started today, with ten items at the pick up site.

We got:
2 broccoli crowns
2 large leeks
bag of shallots
bag of green bell peppers
green cabbage
cauliflower
cilantro
Chinese red meat heirloom radishes
white scallions

butternut squash

I already used three of the radishes in tonight’s salad. Awesome!

About AnnieRie

Retired, I am following my dream of living in quiet western Howard County, a rural oasis, not far from the urban chaos, but just far enough. I love to cook, bake, garden, and travel. I volunteer at Howard County Conservancy, mostly supporting grounds, gardens, programs and activities. I love the things we do, particularly supporting events that show children all the wonders of nature, and the agricultural connection to their food.
