Sometimes the hardest things to do are letting go of memories and collections. After 30+ years of marriage and only two houses (bad decision to buy before selling, everything came with us), we are finally tackling the big project.
Cleaning house.
How does one let go of a lifetime of memories? When did it become not cool to have books? We can’t GIVE away books. No one wants them. Even the charities don’t want some of the furniture, unless there are no blemishes. Seriously!
We are trying to clean out, and downsize the clutter in the attic and spare bedrooms. Will we keep holiday decorations? How about travel memories? Now I know why some people don’t retire. This is way too hard.
