Well here we are, a year later. A year older. Not inclined to write much, but not willing to give up my website.
We finally got the tree up in one of the few places here that doesn’t have construction stuff in the way. We are close to celebrating 20 years in this house and one of the biggest tasks is done. Replacing the bathrooms with “aging in place” friendly fixtures. Took most of the fall but we did it.
It is peaceful and quiet now. The contractors are gone, along with the dumpster, the portapotty, the lock box and the building permit on the window. This was the first major undertaking we accomplished here. Took us long enough to get it done. Now, just one more disruptive, really massive thing to do and we can gracefully age in place. That’s the kitchen. After all, I suppose a stove that lasted 38 years (20 for us) is ready to be replaced.
That is our Christmas gift to each other. Redoing the kitchen. Can’t wait {sarcasm}.
In the meantime, we can enjoy the replacement of a never used jacuzzi with a walk in shower with a bench for this old lady.
I think we could throw a party in it. It is much larger than I expected. But, it is so much safer and so nice to not have a tiny pentagonal corner shower and all that wasted space on a jacuzzi that was never utilized by us.
It took most of 2024 to get from concept to completion and it was our combined 2023 birthday/Christmas gift to each other.
Maybe my 2025 New Year’s resolution should be to get back into writing because many other things happened this year and I find this website is where we look to see when we accomplished things. I find it interesting to read. Almost like a diary.
