As in demolition day. My better half wants me to document the big kitchen renovation. We are gluttons for punishment. Starting a major renovation ten days before Christmas. One that will last 10-12 weeks.
No kitchen. Cooking in the laundry room. Pantry in the garage. Refrigerator to be moved to the dining room.
Sunday night was crazy. Trying to finish the emptying. Not expecting snow that needed to be removed so the dumpster and portapot could be delivered. Making the driveway safe for our contractors to carry cabinets and appliances to the dumpster.
This was Sunday night.

This is Monday night.

Big difference. We are eating in a corner of the dining room where we cleared an area not stacked with boxes from our cabinets.
Tonight it was leftover pizza from a local carryout. We had half Sunday night and reheated the other half for dinner tonight. My typical locavore cooking is going to be disrupted for almost three months. I have one induction burner, a smart oven, crock pot and microwave. We had to put the microwave in the garage due to power constraints in the laundry room. The induction burner is plugged into the same outlet as the washing machine. The smart oven and coffee pot share the other outlet. If I use the crock pot, I will have to use the washing machine outlet. Musical appliances.
This has been a long journey to get to today. We had our first meeting with our contractor on January 28th. Signed a contract on July 25th. Got in line for an early December start.
And here we are.
More tomorrow, but right now the house made tiramisu from Ragu Pizzaria is calling us. Didn’t get a chance to eat it last night because dinner was rushed.
